2013 Delgado Family Chardonnay
100% Champlin Creek Vineyard, Sonoma Coast Appellation. Gently rolling hills with South and Southeast exposure comprise the vineyard site. This area is cool, foggy, and windy – ideal for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
A very good growing season. Normal rains in the winter but very little in the spring. Slight localized frost damage. Spring got off to a fast start then a cool dry summer led to a very good harvest.
This wine opens up with bright creamy fruit and tropical aromas. The wine is lush on the palate showing juicy pear and apple and a lively and round texture. The finish is long and vibrant complimented by notes of stone fruit.
Great alone or perfect with grilled salmon.
Traditional Burgundian style winemaking.
100% French Oak at 40% new oak.
Aged 14 months in barrel.
Alcohol is 14.8%,
TA is 6.6g/L,
pH is 3.66,
Creamy and rich on the nose with white peach and pineapple.
Lively acidity on the palate highlights the apple and citrus flavors.
The finish is smooth and long with more ripe fruit followed by a “stony” nuance.
